Facility Planning Commitee

The Mason ISD Board of Trustees convened a Community Planning/Facilities Assessment Committee as part of long-range facility planning and bond election consideration. The committee included a broad cross-section of stakeholders, including MISD staff, parents, and community members.

From April 2025 through January 2026, the committee met multiple times to review district facility conditions, study financial context, conduct campus walkthroughs, evaluate candidate projects, and rank priorities. The process focused on two core goals:

  1. understanding facility deficiencies and potential solutions, and
  2. identifying the best balance between district needs and community resources.

During this process, committee members evaluated projects based on student and staff safety, educational benefit, operational need, community impact, and long-term value. Candidate projects were scored and ranked, resulting in a final recommendation package of priority improvements.

Based on the committee’s recommendation, the Board called a $35,000,000 bond election to address the Committee's priority items, including:

  • Mason High School partial renovation and new academics/gym
  • Mason Junior High practice gym HVAC improvements
  • Site circulation and parking improvements
  • Elementary covered walkways
  • Security fencing improvements

This recommendation reflects a community-informed proposal intending to improve safety, support student learning, and modernize Mason ISD facilities for the future.
